cat held hostage
saturday night umbrella-less
feels like spring
my feet dance in puddles
no one in sight
loneliness surrounds me tonight
except her
drenched ball of fur
i cradle her
a babe in arms
“I’ll hold you hostage till morning
cats and dogs it’s pouring”
agreeing
she purrs
feels like spring
my feet dance in puddles
no one in sight
loneliness surrounds me tonight
except her
drenched ball of fur
i cradle her
a babe in arms
“I’ll hold you hostage till morning
cats and dogs it’s pouring”

lucky 7
12 ½ years you laid beside me
a dedicated soldier
a trusted friend
as i’d type my reports and read my books
you were always there to lend a hand
or more appropriately -- a paw
but everything has changed now
3 weeks without you
feels like an eternity wasted:
as brilliant as you came into this world
you left
and how i miss
miss your paws
a dedicated soldier
a trusted friend
as i’d type my reports and read my books
you were always there to lend a hand
or more appropriately -- a paw
but everything has changed now
3 weeks without you
feels like an eternity wasted:
as brilliant as you came into this world
you left
and how i miss
miss your paws

February storm warning
Sappy daffy bluff
Throw up this love
Chocolate cheesy cake
And all that mushy stuff:
Because I’m tired
Of the god damn joke
The way you reel me in
I continue to choke
Caught-in-a-net
Over-you
With no rabbit hole
To escape into
(Alice’s Wonderland
Is booked this time of season)
Or hocus-pocus
Expialidocious
To save me –
I’m left on my own
With this feeling for you
That has grown
To pain me.
You told me once
That you were afraid to need me
Fearing if you hurt me
You’d be struck by lightening.
Well, today is your day
Your self-prophecy
Is about to come true:
I hear the rumble of thunder
You better run.
Throw up this love

Of the god damn joke
The way you reel me in
